Equality Bill to ban pre-employment health questionnaires

A groundbreaking amendment has been added to the Equality Bill that will make pre-employment health questionnaires illegal.  The move follows successful campaign by charities.  Paul Corry, director of public affairs at mental health charity Rethink, said: "The government's decision to introduce the amendment should put a stop to this discriminatory employment practice, which deters so many people with mental health problems from applying for jobs. It could mark a turning point in equal opportunities.”
