Description

The tenth annual Risk and Patient Safety conference offers an important opportunity to learn from the many successful patient safety initiatives being implemented across the UK and internationally. With a focus on governance of safer care across organisations - looking at mental health, social care and community, you will have the opportunity to hear from leading healthcare professionals on their experiences in mental health, social care and community services; integrated risk reduction; personalisation and risk; and improving compliance with proven risk management policy and practice. A series of workshops and masterclasses provide the opportunity for more interactive learning for both beginners and managers.

“In practice, any one guiding value may have to be weighed against one or more of the others, in an open, honest way. For example, safety is an important aspect of a high – quality service, but this may sometimes have to be balanced against self-determination, expressed here as ‘being in control of our lives’. In some situations, safety may be the overriding consideration; in others, the ability of the individual to make their own decisions and feel in control of their life will be more important to their mental health and well-being” New Horizons: Towards a shared vision for mental health: Consultation, Department of Health, July 2009
