Sixth National Conference
A Practical Guide to Measuring and Monitoring Clinical Outcomes using Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs)
“It's hard to overstate how profound the impact of PROMs could be for the NHS, patients and the public. For the first time there will be a quantified measure of both the generic and disease-specific quality of care patients receive from the NHS. PROMs go way beyond simply asking ‘Are you satisfied?” The Kings Fund
Traditionally, the focus of measuring the effectiveness of care has been on process and clinical indicators rather than patient outcomes, but in April 2009 it became essential for clinicians to be able to monitor and provide information on individual patient reported outcomes.
Chaired by Dr Jeremy Hobart Senior Lecturer/Consultant Neurologist Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry, this one day conference provides a practical guide to measuring and monitoring clinical outcomes using Patient Reported Outcome Measures.
Topics include:
· Getting the most out of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs)
· PROMs: the lessons from 10 years’ experience
· PROMs on a small scale
* Understanding PROMs and moving forward to non surgical conditions
* Linking patient experience and Patient Reported Outcome Measures
* Patient Reported Outcomes: quality of life
* Commissioning and rewarding on the basis of PROMs results
* National PROMs development: focus on surgical PROMs
* Maximising the learning from national PROMs at trust and directorate level
