Description

“…An NHS that gives patients and the public more information and choice, works in partnership and has quality of care at its heart…” LORD ARA DARZI; HIGH QUALITY CARE FOR ALL, NHS NEXT STAGE REVIEW FINAL REPORT; 2008

Quality is the NHS organising principle and improving the patient experience is one of the five national priorities set out in the NHS Operating Framework for 2009/2010 and beyond. Developing the ability to effectively translate information to and communicate with patients will be pivotal to achieving this improvement.

The conference, chaired by Mark Duman President Patient Information Forum (PiF) is an opportunity for you to learn about the latest techniques and methods for writing and developing Quality Patient Information that is accessible, understandable and personalised to patients as individuals, on a day to day basis.

“Information is key to a public that is truly engaged in their healthcare.  Yet the development and dissemination of high quality health information, especially at local level, remains under-resourced.  This conference is a must attend for those wanting to improve patient experience through better information.” Mark Duman president patient information forum (PiF); October 2009

Focusing on ways to manage and share information, you will hear practical tips, step-by-step guides and advice from leading professionals about involving patients in the information process, diversity in Patient Information and linking with information standards.

The National Register of Public Service Interpreters will lead an interactive workshop focusing on effective interpretation, working with interpreters at the clinical interface and the issues around explaining risk to patients in different languages.

Topics include:

  • Developing Quality Patient Information: a UK update
